A recent analysis of data from 1226 adults suggested a potential link between the Triglyceride-Glucose (TyG) index and sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Results indicated a U-shaped relationship, suggesting that both low and high TyG levels negatively impacted hearing thresholds, particularly in high frequencies. Maintaining a balanced TyG index may be linked to better speech and high-frequency hearing thresholds.

BMC Cardiovasc Disor...
Examining data from over 23,000 patients, a study found that 8.35% of acute myocardial infarction cases were accompanied by cardiac arrhythmias, primarily ventricular tachyarrhythmias, followed by bradyarrhythmias & atrial tachyarrhythmias. The presence of any arrhythmia significantly increased the risk of adverse in-hospital outcomes, including mortality, cardiogenic shock, re-infarction, stroke or heart failure.

BMJ Open Diabetes Re...
  • In T1DM patients, 8 metabolites had a significant link with diabetic retinopathy, diabetic kidney disease & distal symmetric polyneuropathy, & 6 of them increased the microvascular burden severity
  • Higher levels of 3,4-dihydroxybutanoic acid (DHBA), 2,4-DHBA, ribonic acid, glycine, & ribitol were associated with microvascular events
  • These metabolites may improve risk assessment for diabetes complications

  • Wearing gloves reduced the risk for overall adverse events related to insertion compared to no gloves (aRR: 0.52)
  • Catheter removal based on defined schedules resulted in a lower phlebitis/thrombophlebitis incidence (RR: 0.74) compared to clinically indicated removal in adults
  • In neonates, chlorhexidine reduced the phlebitis score compared to non-chlorhexidine-containing disinfection (0.14 vs. 0.68, p = 0.003)
