Recent findings suggested that preoperative BMI reduction in morbidly obese patients may not necessarily mitigate post-TKA complications, while delaying surgery could potentially be detrimental. Analyzing 1,270 TKA patients with BMI ≥ 40, those achieving ≥ 5% BMI reduction did not show reduced 90-day complication rates vs. those with unchanged BMI. Patients with a BMI increase of ≥ 5% faced higher complication risks.
