Recent research observed that both miscarriages and stillbirths heightened the risk of total cardiovascular diseases (CVD), coronary heart disease, stroke, and total CVD deaths among women. The risk escalated with each additional miscarriage or stillbirth, indicating a dose-response relationship. Pregnancy loss could be potential indicator of increased CVD susceptibility.

In coronary artery disease patients, those with a history of myocardial infarction (MI) had more retinal ischemic perivascular lesions (RIPLs) compared to those without (59.3% vs. 35.7%). Even after adjusting for various factors including age, gender, smoking status, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and BMI, the presence of RIPLs was strongly associated with MI (OR: 3, p<0.001).
