A recent analysis of data from 1226 adults suggested a potential link between the Triglyceride-Glucose (TyG) index and sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Results indicated a U-shaped relationship, suggesting that both low and high TyG levels negatively impacted hearing thresholds, particularly in high frequencies. Maintaining a balanced TyG index may be linked to better speech and high-frequency hearing thresholds.

Examining data from over 23,000 patients, a study found that 8.35% of acute myocardial infarction cases were accompanied by cardiac arrhythmias, primarily ventricular tachyarrhythmias, followed by bradyarrhythmias & atrial tachyarrhythmias. The presence of any arrhythmia significantly increased the risk of adverse in-hospital outcomes, including mortality, cardiogenic shock, re-infarction, stroke or heart failure.

  • T2DM patients had higher all-cause mortality risk (600.4 vs 549.1 per 10,000 person-yrs), vs. those without T2DM (control), after onset of PAD, indicating a 1.12-fold higher risk
  • T2DM patients had a 1.13-fold higher risk of CV death vs. control
  • High age & baseline hyperglycemia contributed to the mortality risk in T2DM-PAD patients
  • Combined T2D-PAD warrants optimized treatment strategies to reduce mortal...
