Ageing of the skin is mediated by a combination of the effects of time (intrinsic ageing) and environmental factors (extrinsic ageing) on skin cells and their extra-cellular support matrix. These are two independent, clinically and biologically distinct, processes that affect the skin structure and function simultaneously. But recent evidence suggests that these two skin ageing processes have common biochemical and molecular pathways, including nuclear and mitochondrial DNA damage, inactivation of growth factors, breakdown of matrix proteins and membrane lipid damage.
While the demand for growth factors to maintain skin health increases with ageing, the levels of endogenous growth factors and their activity are known to decrease in aged skin. A logical approach to reversing the signs of skin ageing is to harness the ability of skin to repair itself and to supplement these healing processes with essential components that have been lost as a result of ageing. The use of growth factors and cytokines in skin rejuvenation and reversal of photoageing is emerging as a novel anti-ageing treatment. Various clinical trials have shown that human growth factors, when applied topically, provide beneficial effects in reducing the signs of facial skin ageing.
CUTISERA is a novel anti-ageing product containing growth factors. The growth factors contained in CUTISERA are derived from the conditioned medium of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

What is CUTISERA™?
CUTISERA™ is an anti-ageing serum containing growth factors and cytokines. Growth factors and cytokines are a group of specialized proteins with many functions, the most important being skin rejuvenation and repair.
What does CUTISERA™ Contain?
CUTISERA™ contains the conditioned medium in which stem cells were grown. However, it does not contain any stem cells.
Stem cells of human bone marrow origin are grown in a nutrient medium. During their growth, they release various growth factors and cytokines. This medium is then filtered to remove the cells, cell debris and other components. The filtered and concentrated medium containing mainly the growth factors and cytokines is then used in CUTISERA™.
Why does one need an External Supply of Growth Factors and Cytokines?
Growth factors and cytokines are present in the skin and are responsible for many skin functions. With advancing age, the level of these growth factors and cytokines in the skin decreases and leads to skin ageing. Hence, an external supply of growth factors and cytokines will help replenish their levels and help slowdown or even reverse the signs of ageing.
Who can use CUTISERA™?
Individuals with any of these signs of ageing skin - dryness, dull complexion, rough texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots can benefit from the use of CUTISERA™.
What are the Benefits of CUTISERA™?
The visible results of applying CUTISERA™ daily include decrease in fine lines and wrinkles, improvement in firmness, decrease in dark spots, and improvement in skin glow and moisturization of the skin.
How should one use CUTISERA™?
To apply CUTISERA™:
- Dispense 0.5g of CUTISERA™ by pressing the pump 2-3 times and apply on the face.
- Spread uniformly by massaging in a circular motion.
- Use twice daily, regularly.
How soon will a user see Results with CUTISERA™?
Some visible improvement in the skin occurs by 3 months of daily use. The results may vary, depending upon the condition of the skin at the initiation of treatment.
How should CUTISERA™ be used when using other Skin Care Products?
After washing the face, CUTISERA™ should be applied first. Any other creams or serums applied before CUTISERA™ would block reduce the product from being properly absorbed into the skin.
What will happen if one stops using CUTISERA™?
On stopping the use of CUTISERA™, the benefits of the serum may not continue for long. The visible signs of ageing would eventually return.
Has CUTISERA™ been tested on Indian Skin?
Yes, CUTISERA™ has been tested on Indian skin.
Can CUTISERA™ be used by Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers?
Pregnant women and lactating women were not included in the CUTISERA™ trial. Hence, there is no data available on the use of CUTISERA™ in pregnant women and lactating mothers.
What are the Possible Side effects expected with the use of CUTISERA™?
In a 90-day trial, CUTISERA™ was found to be well tolerated by 40 female volunteers.
Does CUTISERA™ cause Allergy?
CUTISERA™ was found to be safe and well tolerated in a trial conducted on Indian patients.
How should CUTISERA™ be Stored?
CUTISERA™ should be stored in cool and dry place, below 25°C.
What are the Important Points to be remembered while using CUTISERA™?
- It will take four to six initial pressings of the actuator/pump for the product to come out from the container.
- Do not pull out the actuator/pump from the container - it will lead to malfunction of the container.
- Do not drop the container as it will disturb the internal mechanism.
