Composition
CYTOCARB 150/450 Injection
Each ml contains:
Carboplatin USP .......................10 mg
Water for injection I.P. ...............q.s.
Indications
- Advanced Ovarian Carcinoma
- Small cell lung carcinoma
Dosage and Administration
Calvert formula shown below may be used to determine dosage
Dose (mg) = target AUC (mg/ml x min) x
Note: With the Calvert formula, the total dose of carboplatin is calculated in mg, not mg/m2.
Contraindications
Carboplatin is contra-indicated in patients with:
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to other platinum containing compounds
- Breast feeding
- Severe myelosuppression
- Bleeding tumours
- Pre-existing severe renal impairment (with creatinine clearance of ? 20 ml per minute).
The Most Common Adverse Reactions
Myelosuppression, subclinical
decrease in hearing acuity, nausea , diarrhoea , alopecia, constipation , mucositis, renal toxicity , decreases in serum electrolytes (sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium), hyperuricaemia , peripheral neuropathies, abnormalities of liver function tests etc.
Storage
Store in a cool dry place. Do not refrigerate.
