A new study highlighted the prognostic value of liver stiffness measurement (LSM) changes over time in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Over 4.4 years, patients progressing to LSM ≥10 kPa had a 4-fold increase in liver-related events (LRE), including liver death, transplant & HCC, while regressors had a 75% reduction in LRE risk. These findings position LSM as a non-invasive indicator for NAFLD outcomes.
