Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is described as an ongoing inflammatory condition of the pancreas specified by irreversible morphologic damages resulting in pancreatic exocrine and endocrine insufficiency. Medical, endoscopic and surgical treatment of CP should aim at control of symptoms, prevention of progression of the disease and correction of complications.
