Superficial fungal Infections are caused by dermatophytes, also known as tinea. Tinea is a common fungal infection that can affect the skin, nails and hair. Tinea infection has a variety of clinical manifestations and affects all age groups, ranging from tinea pedis in adults to tinea capitis in pre-pubertal children.
